An After-Christmas Poem

Messy Kitchen Christmas 2013

‘Twas the day after Christmas
And all through the house
Dirty dishes were stacked
And the trap had a mouse!

Recovery was slow
As I stared at the mess
I knew in an instant
That we had regressed!

On soap suds! On detergent!
The scrubbing began
When the kids finally appeared
Each of them ran!

I spoke not a word, but went straight to work
I cleaned all the dishes, and called nobody a jerk!
I heard them exclaim, as they ran out of sight
“Thanks, Mom, for Christmas, it was Merry and bright!”

For the memories made
It was worth all the work
The mess, it will fade
And just the good stuff will lurk.

I hope each of you had a wonderful Christmas celebration…wishing you rest and relaxation! 🙂
